Default Website - Having one or no?

Just to kick start this section, what are your opinions on having a website?

Advertising is obviously the toughest bit but getting the exposure can result in tremendous sales.

Right I think everyone should start on ebay to get a feel for it before opening a website, then once you are more experienced, move into a website and make sure you market and advertise it.

Yes, if you can get the great exposure and many sales it will be a lot more profitable on ebay, you don't have any listing or FVFs to worry about and there is no competition on the same site except yourself.

If you manage to get a successful site up and running that will be a great step forward from ebay.

Just my thoughts

A website can help kick start your business or even catapult it to another level. In this technology advanced world of ours, a website is considered an essential but not mandatory part of many businesses.

Like what Matt has mentioned, eBay is a good platform for those who are starting out to get their business up and running and also get maximum exposure.

But for those who are in the direct opposite scenario; having a well developed business but do not own a website yet, their business can go even further with the creation of an official website. The power of the internet is massive but often not fully understood by many. With the existence of a website, the businesses' brand and product can reach to a larger scope of audience and bring in sales from all over the world.

However, a website does not automatically equates to better businesses. It all comes down to the core factors; good marketable products, fair prices and excellent service and delivery.

But with having a website, there's always trouble of having downtime and paying a web designer to to design your site.

With eBay its just a listing fee, final value fee and PayPal fee's.

I agree with Ky that having a website is a very powerfull way of promoting your services. You dont have to have a webstore selling goods but it is handy to maintain some kind of image on the web which alows customers to see who you are.

I am now looking at different options in regards to websites. Their are places available which will provide you with a webstore and domain reg for as little as £10-15 a month.

I can provide hosting at £5.99 a month and a .co.uk domain for £7.00 yearly. You could have a site / shopping store running for just £5.99 a month.

Thats not a bad price Saajan, So £5.99 a month and then use ARA to supply the goods dropshipped.

Out of interest does ARA have many customers that sell their goods on ebay?
